Latest Release - DVD On The Edge - James Morrison / Simon Stockhausen ----4 YEARS IN PRODUCTION----

Experience an intimate view of the recording session for ON THE EDGE at the Sydney Opera House, with James Morrison and a vibrant ensemble of musicians creating a live recording of classic and original songs.

Simon Stockhausen and James Morrison met and worked together on a Lalo Schifrin project with the Cologne Radio Orchestra and immediately formed a musical relationship that has taken them both to new places. Since that meeting they have done a number of performances, both in Australia and Europe, which have stunned audiences with their sheer energy and spontaniety.

The time was right to record this synergy and they just needed the right "vehicle" to do it. The perfect accompanyiing players were found in a group of young musicians from Perth, Western Australia, who are not only virtuosic but have a sensitivity to the kind of music James & Simon created.

Troy Roberts (Tenor Sax), Matthew Jodrall (Trumpet), Andrew Fisenden (Drums) and Dane Alderson (6 string Bass) all feature brilliantly on this recording with their high energy, creative approach. They are joined by Sri Lanken born Sunil de Silva, a percussionist who has added his beautiful feel to previous Morrison recordings.

This music draws on many diverse influences from new age to jazz, funk and Latin. It has been described as "urban groove" - what you call it is unimportant; it moves people in different ways.

In the end, the thing that gets you is the groove.

Latest Release - The Other Woman - James Morrison / Deni Hines

Keep an eye out for the DVD coming soon to a store near you.

No, it’s not a sour grapes tell all saga of infidelity, more so the joining of two worlds and two minds, one voice one instrument.

World renowned Jazz artist, James Morrison and leading Soul/RNB singer Deni Hines join forces for “THE OTHER WOMAN”.  A 16 track duet album stacked with classics from Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin and two stellar originals of their own, titled “The Other Woman” & “Wake Up”.

Jazz can only be sung when the heart has bled, so they say.  Many in the genre refer to Jazz as “the other woman” hence the title of the album and the new original composition.

For James Morrison it’s his passion, his achievements and his stature.  For Deni Hines it’s another growth curve in her career and only now hitting her stride.

With the likes of Michael Buble, Diana Krall, Jamie Cullum having mainstream cross-over success we feel that its time some Australians got in on the game.

“I discovered that Deni has a deep love and appreciation for so many of the legendary singers that I grew up listening to and when I heard that she wanted to do something with this music I immediately felt it would be a wonderful musical adventure - plus she has such a great voice” says James.

“I’ve always had the utmost respect for James Morrison, gee, he’s an Australian legend and icon, the opportunity to do an album with him is beyond my wildest dreams”, says an excited Deni.  “I’ve grown up listening to these classics and I’m now at an age where I can relate to the context, the feel of it and to state the obvious, man I’ve lived it”, remarks Deni.

Latest Release - Gospel Christmas - James Morrison

Christmas is a celebration and carols never fail to lift one’s spirits. No matter how you are feeling or what else is happening in your day, when you hear a Christmas carol you are transported to that magical time when there is peace on earth and goodwill toward all.

The story in these songs is as old as Christianity itself and they must have been played just about every way one can imagine. With this collection we just wanted to create that wonderful swinging feeling that is jazz - and apply it to these songs that people know so well.

I’m joined here by some of the best musicians in the country and of course the wonderful Emma Pask is featured, with her joyful interpretation that always makes one smile.

The styles vary from swinging to funky but no matter what we “do” with the song, it’s always unmistakably Christmas.

Latest Release - Gospel Collection # 2 - James Morrison

Doing a second volume of my Gospel Collection was a must, as there were so many wonderful pieces that couldn’t be included the first time. This collection is a real mixture – some of the all time great hymns (given the “groove” treatment) and some more recent “Spirituals” with a couple of new songs thrown in too.

There was no question that Emma & Neilsen would be singing on this album, after showing on the last one what happens when they’re inspired by this sacred music – and that’s what this is really all about… inspiration.

Whether you’re a devout believer or just a fan of Gospel music, I trust you’ll feel the inspiration that lifted all who were involved in this recording – it’s in every note.
